With a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a MSEd in curriculum and instruction, along with her personal artistic practice, Jacobson has dedicated herself to teaching and nurturing creativity in others for over 20 years. Jacobson’s photography invites viewers to experience the world through a lens of light, shadow, and recollection. Monica has shown her work nationally as well as locally and her artwork has appeared in numerous publications. For Jacobson, photography is a way to capture the poetry and excitement of the world around her.  "Photography is my way of connecting with the world, whether documenting the beauty and drama of everyday life or through post-capture manipulation, creating an imagined narrative or sense of place and time.  I want to encapsulate moments of meaning that speak to something greater than ourselves."

Jacobson's work combines both traditional and experimental photography, revealing her deep curiosity and passion for storytelling. "Art is a reflection of the world around us, a cultural mirror, it can make us ponder, bring us healing, and at times joy" she says. "Through my work, I hope to evoke emotion and connection in those who experience it."
